What does Greg Proops have to teach you about the world? Everything.

The IQ at NerdMelt just ticked up a few dozen points, because comedian Greg Proops has decided to bring his signature Proopcast in for a live recording on September 20. Known to his fans as The Smartest Man in the World, Proops’ one-man show will take you down a dark and winding path through the back corridors of his mind. It may be crowded in there, but it’s not a bad place to get lost for an hour.

If you’re not hip to the format, let us fill you in. Though you may know Greg from his improvised antics on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you won’t find his live material re-running on ABC Family. Instead, expect a sardonic soliloquy during which Proops will free-associate his way from pop music to politics to obscure baseball pitcher Satchel Paige in about 3 minutes flat. And if you think he missed something, he’ll give it up to the audience for questions.

Students, tell your professors you’re pursuing your pop-culture education in the best classroom you can find, the back of a comic shop. If they don’t believe you, burn a cd of Proops’ past podcast episodes and wait for the A’s to roll in. You won’t find a better tutor than The Smartest Man in the World.
